The market for social and healthcare information systems in Finland has undergone a significant transformation due to the social and healthcare reform. Welfare regions are actively standardizing their operational models and require modern, cost-effective regional systems to support both healthcare and social services.

The Finnish IT system provider specializing in the social and healthcare sector, Mediconsult, has been preparing for this change for years by developing the next-generation Mediconsult Saga®️ client and patient information system solution and enhancing its capabilities and expertise in various areas. The company has experienced significant growth in the 2020s, both in terms of revenue and staff numbers: revenue in 2022 was €17.2 million (compared to €12.7 million in 2020) and the number of employees was 220 (compared to 135 in 2020).

Towards the end of the year, Mediconsult strengthened its team by hiring two new executives. On November 21st, Tom Puusola began his role as the new Chief Operating Officer. Tom is responsible for Mediconsult's corporate-level portfolio and operational processes, as well as leading the Deliveries and Services function. He transitioned to this position from his role as Chief Operating Officer at the IT consultancy firm Attido Oy and has nearly 30 years of experience in executive roles at companies like Innofactor and Digia.

- Our Saga Social Care client information system has already been selected for six welfare regions, representing a population of almost 1.8 million citizens and more than 26 000 client information system users. These selections will enable us to deliver our social health information systems to a number of welfare regions over the next few years. Tom has a very broad and diverse experience in managing performance units and business development in the IT sector. He brings significant new expertise to us in this period of strong growth," says Tommi Salaspuro, CEO of Mediconsult.

Sami Vaateri took up the position of Sales Director on 1 December. Sami is responsible for actively exploiting the market situation in the industry, managing and developing sales and customer relationships. Sami has spent the last three years as an entrepreneur in the healthcare sector consulting and before that as Sales Director of Mehiläinen's care services. She also has a strong background in IT.

- In line with our strategy, we want to increase our market share, strengthen our position as one of the leading system providers in the healthcare sector in Finland and build on our strong domestic market to grow internationally. Sam has a very strong background in both the social care and IT sectors and in sales management. It is great to have Sami leading our sales and customer base," adds Tommi Salaspuro.
