The three-year ITEA Profit project, running until June 2027, involves nursing professionals in the development of AI tools. Mediconsult is participating in the project led by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
AI can, for example, automatically provide healthcare professionals with relevant patient information through either a graphical or voice interface.
The technology is being tested by nursing students at Turku University of Applied Sciences, providing immediate feedback on its usability. In the initial phase of the project, the training of AI solutions will utilize the students' practice assignments and various simulated data.
The project at Mediconsult is led by Medical Director Ville Salaspuro. We are conducting the research and development of the project in collaboration with Finnish and international partners. The Finnish partners include companies Oiva Health and Solita, as well as research and educational institutions VTT , the Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland, the University of Eastern Finland, and Turku University of Applied Sciences.
Ville Salaspuro considers the use of AI-based tools an important part of the future work of social and healthcare professionals: "These tools will make professionals' work more efficient. They will have more time to focus on clients instead of spending time with information systems. The project offers concrete opportunities to validate the use of AI-based tools in a real operational environment."
